Here is a list of beginning Montessori Math Materials. For each of the presentations with the golden beads, there should be a tray with supplies on it and a felt mat so the beads don't roll. Ideally you don't want to borrow supplies from one presentation tray for another, so that after the lesson is given, the child can take the tray and repeat the activity independently. For addition, subtraction, multiplicaiton, division, and exchanging presentations, there can be a "bank" of golden beads on a tray with a large enough quantity to complete whatever problems are being done. At this stage, problems are created with small number cards, and the answer is shown with large number cards, and the answers are not written down.
